Our Principal Consultant

David P. Long, S.T.L., M.Phil., J.C.D., founded Hamilton-Derrom Consulting in August 2007. He based the firm’s name on the examples of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and Colonel Andrew Derrom, an English-American civil engineer, industrialist, inventor, and military officer. Both Hamilton and Derrom were key contributors to the successes of Paterson, New Jersey, David’s hometown.

Outside his consulting work, David serves as a school dean, professor, and institute director at a university with an R-1 (“Doctoral Universities – Very high research spending and doctorate production”) Carnegie Classification.

David earned his doctoral degree in Canon Law from the School of Canon Law at The Catholic University of America, defending his dissertation entitled, John Henry Newman, Doctrinal Development, and the Canonical Status of the Theologian in the Church.

He previously earned his M.Phil. in Systematic Theology from Catholic University’s School of Theology and Religious Studies.

David is a 1997 graduate of Georgetown University (double major in History and American Government) and completed graduate work in Theological Ethics (M.A., S.T.L.) and Canon Law (J.C.L.) from the Catholic University of Louvain in Leuven, Belgium.
